Project Manager II
About The Position
CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager II to join our Electric Transmission Team in Albany, NY; Syracuse, NY; or Rochester, NY. In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary projects supporting the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of electric overhead transmission systems. This role involves managing electric overhead transmission projects from planning and design through delivery, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with contract requirements. You will also build and maintain strong client relationships, coordinate project scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, approvals, and quality controls across multidisciplinary teams, and manage contracts, purchase orders, project documentation, and ongoing coordination with clients, regulators, and subcontractors. Additionally, you will oversee project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, and lead monthly project review meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Science, Planning, Engineering Management, or a related field required
- Minimum of 7 years of industry experience required, including 4 years of project management experience
- Proven ability to manage project accounting processes (budgeting, forecasts, and cash management) as well as prepare proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations and project closeout documents
- Demonstrated experience managing client relationships, understanding contract requirements, and overseeing multiple concurrent projects
- Experience with Microsoft Office required
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt style for various audiences
- Experience leveraging problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
- Ability to travel as needed and work collaboratively with technical teams
Nice To Haves
- knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, or Deltek VantagePoint preferred
- Consulting experience preferred
- PMP, PE or equivalent professional license preferred
Responsibilities
- Manage electric overhead transmission projects from planning and design through delivery, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with contract requirements
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while developing a clear understanding of project goals, technical needs, and expectations
- Coordinate project scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, approvals, and quality controls across multidisciplinary teams
- Manage contracts, purchase orders, project documentation, and ongoing coordination with clients, regulators, and subcontractors
- Oversee project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, while ensuring timely payments and accurate reporting
- Lead monthly project review meetings, communicating progress and updates to clients, management, and project teams
- Develop and implement health and safety plans, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, quality standards, and permitting requirements
- Support proposal development, identify new business opportunities, and help expand CHA’s electric overhead transmission services
