About The Position

The Project Manager II position is responsible for providing project management systems and technical direction to projects teams for the purpose of delivering safe, quality Distribution power delivery projects. This position is the single point of accountability for the successful bidding, planning, execution and closeout of projects which is accomplished through managing all aspects of projects including scope, schedule, cost, safety and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Proficient in advanced principles and practices of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, general science and scales of weight and measurements is required
  • Proficient user of MS Project and Microsoft Office based applications.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
  • Utilized common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information.
  • Self-motivated, savvy, reliable, trustworthy, as well as technically competent.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to constructively manage multiple tasks.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement may apply).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, design technology, or a related field or a minimum of ten years of experience in the power utility field preferred.
  • A BS Engineering Degree will qualify for this position with five years of utility experience.
  • Project Manager certification is a plus.
  • PMP is preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%. Overnight stay may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all PM responsibilities are addressed, including developing & maintaining schedules, leading internal and external project status meetings, budgeting and scheduling maintenance, preparing proposals, and taking a significant role in client relationships
  • All aspects of contract negotiation, change order identification, submittal and approval, administration, establishing the system to carry out the contract including management of subcontractors
  • Interface directly with all levels of client and internal management.
  • Provide appropriate guidance and input into the development and updating of all project schedules, writing comprehensive and technical project reports, job cost and other management reports.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the project team
  • Develop & maintain schedules, lead/participate in project meetings with project teams, oversee budgets, participate in proposal preparation, take leading role in client relationships
  • Verification of projects ready to be closed and have no open committed costs, the billing has been complete, etc.
  • Participate with monthly, quarterly and annual projections
  • Identify potential scheduling delays, develop and implement corrective actions
  • Attend and manage weekly update meetings and maintain agenda
  • Develop relationships with key internal and external customers while supporting both company and client’s business goals and expectations while representing themselves both positively and professionally.
  • Learn, practice, and promote ALL safety policies and procedures 100% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
