About The Position

Under limited supervision, is responsible for the management and administration of the design, construction, and delivery of new County buildings, and alterations/modifications/renovations to existing buildings. Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. Additional compensation based on licensure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Building Construction, Engineering, Business Administration, or Architecture from an accredited university or college and five years experience in construction project management.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods, practices, and contract administration.
  • Ability to effectively administer and manage construction contracts and projects through completion and closeout of project.
  • Experience in design supervision, contract preparation, on-site coordination, invoice and change order review, quality control, budgeting, and cost control, estimating, and scheduling.
  • Be familiar with Florida Uniform Building Code, and permitting process for County, DEP, and SJRWMD.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writhing, with elected officials, architects, engineers, contractors, and job site personnel.
  • Ability to make presentations before large and small groups.
  • Ability to deal with crisis situations that require the incumbent to make major decisions involving people, resources, and property.
  • Complete knowledge of maintenance procedures and construction trades.
  • Familiar with automated office systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, CAD, etc.)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.

  • A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
  • Certifications and licenses in construction, design, and project management fields are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, manages, and organizes construction projects.
  • Creates contract scope and administers contracts.
  • Plans, estimates, and implements construction contracts and projects.
  • Completes performance evaluations.
  • Participates in review of design development and plans.
  • Represents Seminole County in communicating with architects, engineers, and contractors while construction is in progress.
  • Participates in the budget process for the division.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.
  • In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
