About The Position

The Data & Technology Services unit is responsible for overseeing and managing the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT’s) data and technology. This includes facilitating a more nimble, efficient, and effective data architecture through the creation and management of datasets for reporting and analysis purposes. As the Data & Technology services Project Manager, you will provide project management expertise in managing data and technology projects. You will manage current projects as well as the project backlog. You will act as a liaison between the request development team and various organizational business analysts, subject matter experts, and development teams from the Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in project management, data management, information technology, business analysis, or other experience closely related to the duties of this position.
  • At least 3 years of experience with a primary focus on projects that involve data integration and data management.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience equal to at least 7 years.
  • Education from an accredited college or university with coursework in project management, data science/management, information science/technology, computer science/engineering, business administration, or another field of study related to the duties of this position will be considered.

  • Must pass a pre-employment screening which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the projects that the data and technology team is currently responsible for as well as the project queue.
  • Provide expert guidance to project teams on project management methodologies and principles to keep projects moving forward on time and on budget.
  • Coordinate among various organizational units in CDOT to ensure correct project prioritization and alignment with initiatives.
  • Provide communications on project schedules and progress to the stakeholders and team members.
  • Manage documentation of project milestones, including creating work items, tracking status, following up with project team members, keeping documentation of communications and changes, etc.
  • Manage the processes related to capturing business requirements and performing business analysis activities using a structured approach.
  • Incorporate existing metadata about the data products to streamline the requirements analysis process.
  • Coordinate with the agency management to run monthly engagement discovery cadence reviews for prioritizing, scoping, and sequencing engagements with the project teams.
  • Serve as requirements facilitator and analyst for documentation best practices, hand-off between business and development team, as well as understanding status and progress of all requirements gathering.
  • Work with request projects team to standardize the intake and execution of projects.
  • Define a systematic approach to measure and evaluate project team’s productivity and capacity based on historical performance.
  • Provide ideas and recommendations on ways to realize efficiencies and make improvements to the project process.
  • Provide expert recommendations on the type of project methodology that would best fit the project based on the requirements and resource availability.
