About The Position

We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of mechanical construction projects in healthcare environments, from preconstruction through closeout. In this role, you’ll manage project financials, schedules, risks, and coordination while partnering closely with healthcare owners, General Contractors, design teams, and field leadership. Healthcare construction requires strong coordination, attention to detail, and proactive planning. You’ll help navigate complex building systems, demanding schedules, infection prevention requirements, and the unique challenges of working in active healthcare facilities. Your leadership will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to patient care. You’ll collaborate with project and field teams to resolve challenges, maintain financial performance, and deliver high-quality mechanical systems that support safe, reliable healthcare environments. In return for your hard work and ability to deliver exceptional results, you’ll be rewarded with meaningful ownership, opportunities for professional growth, and the autonomy to make an impact on important healthcare projects throughout the region.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of project management experience in the mechanical construction industry, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects.
  • Experience managing healthcare construction projects, preferably in hospitals, medical centers, outpatient facilities, or other clinical environments.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with customer expectations.
  • Strong financial and commercial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, labor productivity, billing, change management, and contract administration.
  • Experience coordinating mechanical systems, construction schedules, subcontractors, procurement, and field installation activities.
  • An understanding of healthcare construction requirements, including infection prevention, life safety, occupied-facility work, shutdown planning, and coordination with healthcare facilities personnel.
  • Experience collaborating with project teams, resolving complex issues, and supporting the development of Project Engineers or other project professionals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, design teams, General Contractors, and field personnel.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hospital renovations, expansions, central utility plant projects, operating-room upgrades, imaging departments, or other technically complex healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with healthcare construction guidelines and standards, including applicable FGI Guidelines, infection control risk assessments (ICRAs), interim life safety measures (ILSMs), and commissioning requirements.
  • Experience coordinating work in occupied healthcare facilities where shutdowns, noise, vibration, dust, utility interruptions, and patient safety must be carefully managed.
  • Experience with mechanical prefabrication, BIM/VDC coordination, and design-assist or design-build project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver successful healthcare projects. Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, meeting established safety, quality, schedule, budget, and customer expectations.
  • Manage project schedules and execution. Develop, monitor, and communicate project schedules, coordinating procurement, equipment lead times, prefabrication, commissioning, and field installation.
  • Navigate healthcare construction requirements. Coordinate project activities around infection prevention and control, interim life safety measures, facility access restrictions, shutdowns, and occupied-space work requirements, as applicable.
  • Maintain strong financial performance. Manage project budgets, cost tracking, labor forecasting, billing, change management, subcontract administration, purchase orders, and financial projections to achieve project margin objectives.
  • Manage contracts, changes, and risks. Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and design documents to identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, risks, and opportunities. Prepare, negotiate, and manage change orders with appropriate documentation.
  • Coordinate complex mechanical systems. Partner with design teams, VDC/Detailing, field leadership, and other trades to resolve coordination issues involving HVAC, plumbing, piping, controls, and related building systems.
  • Support quality and commissioning. Ensure work meets project specifications, applicable codes, healthcare facility requirements, and quality standards. Coordinate testing, inspections, commissioning, and closeout documentation.
  • Build strong project relationships. Maintain productive relationships with healthcare owners, facilities teams, General Contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders through proactive communication and dependable follow-through.
  • Coordinate project resources. Work with project leadership and field teams to align staffing, procurement, materials, and other resources with project needs.
  • Drive proactive problem-solving. Anticipate schedule, labor, procurement, coordination, and operational risks, bringing the right people together to resolve issues before they affect project outcomes.
