About The Position

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Manager for our Geotechnical department for our Wall, NJ office. This role involves leading and managing geotechnical engineering projects from inception through completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery while meeting client expectations. The Project Manager will also establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, providing technical advice and strategic direction. Key responsibilities include overseeing the design and analysis of geotechnical aspects such as foundation design, slope stability, soil mechanics, earth retaining structures, and groundwater management. The role also entails supervising and mentoring junior engineers, geologists, and technicians, preparing and reviewing geotechnical investigation reports, feasibility studies, and technical specifications, and ensuring high standards of quality control. Additionally, the Project Manager will develop project budgets, track costs, monitor schedules, identify new business opportunities, prepare proposals, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey required (or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable time frame).
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on project management and leadership.
  • Experience with geotechnical site investigations, foundation design, soil-structure interaction, and remedial solutions.
  • Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and interacting with clients.
  • Strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, including software tools for analysis
  • Proficient in project management software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (including occasional overnight stays).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as Geo-technical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or related are a plus.

  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
