About The Position

The Camp Manager (Project Manager) – Food & Housekeeping Services is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of food services and housekeeping operations at an assigned remote camp on Alaska’s North Slope. This role ensures high-quality meal service, clean and well-maintained living and common areas, and a positive camp experience for all residents. This position is ideal for a culinary or food service professional (e.g., Head Cook, Executive Chef, Food Service Manager) who has strong supervisory and operational management experience and is ready to step into full camp leadership responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in food service, culinary, or hospitality operations
  • Proven supervisory or management experience in a high-volume environment
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems (email, scheduling, inventory, reporting)
  • Ability to live and work in a remote camp environment on a rotational schedule
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment requirements, including background check, drug test, and post-offer physical

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary training or experience as a Head Cook, Executive Chef, or Food Service Manager
  • Experience managing both food service and housekeeping teams
  • ServSafe Manager or equivalent food safety certification
  • Prior experience working in remote camps, institutional dining, or similar environments

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for kitchen and dining operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality food service
  • Oversee menu planning, food production, portion control, and presentation in a high-volume environment
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards
  • Monitor food costs, inventory, ordering, and waste control
  • Support and mentor Head Cooks and kitchen leadership staff
  • Manage housekeeping services to maintain clean, sanitary, and comfortable living quarters and common areas
  • Ensure established cleaning schedules, staffing levels, and quality standards are met
  • Address service issues promptly and professionally
  • Supervise, coach, and develop food service and housekeeping staff
  • Ensure adequate staffing, training, and onboarding for all camp services roles
  • Lead performance management, recognition, corrective action, and employee relations in coordination with HR
  • Foster a respectful, safety-focused, and team-oriented work environment
  • Serve as the primary onsite leader for food and housekeeping services
  • Maintain positive working relationships with client representatives and camp leadership
  • Respond to customer feedback and implement service improvements as needed
