About The Position

Chelsea Piers Fitness is seeking a hard-working and detail-oriented Project Manager, Facility Operations to join our team. This role is responsible for driving execution of operational initiatives across Chelsea Piers Fitness clubs. The Facility Operations Project Manager brings structure, accountability, and visibility to projects spanning capital improvements, new club openings, and cross-functional rollouts. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and fully ready to operate, allowing Operations leaders and club teams to focus on performance and people leadership. This role is ideal for an early-career or non-traditional candidate with strong foundational skills who is eager to grow into full project ownership over time. Success in this role comes from curiosity, accountability, and a desire to build operational expertise through hands-on experience, mentorship, and increasing responsibility.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in operations, facilities, construction coordination, or project support roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, follow through on commitments, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills; comfortable working with project plans, trackers, and standardized templates.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to escalate risks, ask questions early, and incorporate feedback.
  • High learning agility, curiosity, and interest in growing into increased ownership over time.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Early-career exposure to construction projects, capital improvements, facilities, or building operations.
  • Familiarity with MEP systems and building infrastructure concepts, with interest in developing deeper technical expertise.
  • Financial aptitude, including budget tracking and vendor coordination.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Background that may include a non-linear career path (e.g., career pivot, step-back from prior role, or return to hands-on operational work) with clear motivation for long-term growth.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Project Execution Own planning, execution, and closeout of Facility Operations-led projects, including smaller capital and club improvements, equipment rollouts, and departmental process and systems changes.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, milestones, budgets, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Track progress, resolve issues, and escalate risks to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Capital Projects & New Club Expansion Support Manage smaller-scale capital projects through completion and transition to club Operations teams as collaborative partners in execution.
  • Partner closely with the Construction Project Manager on new club openings and major renovations to ensure operational requirements are integrated and handoffs are clear and complete.
  • Coordinate punch lists, operational readiness walkthroughs, and closeout documentation.
  • Support new club openings and expansions by aligning construction milestones with operational outfitting and readiness timelines.
  • Translate construction outcomes into operational standards, SOPs, and maintenance plans in partnership with the new club’s Facility Operations Manager.
  • Cross Functional Coordination Serve as the Operations point of contact for projects involving Facilities, Housekeeping, Finance, IT, People Operations, Business Development, and club leadership.
  • Drive alignment on timelines, dependencies, roles, and ownership across teams.
  • Ensure initiatives meet operational standards, brand expectations, and member experience goals.
  • Operational Readiness & Change Management Lead operational readiness for launches, rollouts, and projects transitioning from pilot to scale.
  • Coordinate SOP updates, training needs, communications, and readiness checklists.
  • Ensure smooth transition from project completion to steady-state operations.
  • Documentation & Reporting Maintain consistent project documentation, dashboards, and status reporting.
  • Standardize project management tools, templates, and best practices across Operations.
  • Provide clear, concise updates to Operations leadership and executive stakeholders.
