About The Position

The Project Manager/Estimator, a hybrid role, will create cost estimates, prepare bids and manage our construction projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, materials and effective client communication, in ensuring projects stay profitable and remain on time through detailed takeoffs, risk assessment proactive problem-solving. Key duties for this position include quantity takeoffs, vendor/subcontractor bidding, scheduling, cost tracking, change order management, site logistics, quality control and client relationship management.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of proven and successful experience in project management / estimating for residential, remodeling and light construction projects
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, required
  • Strong analytical math skills and the ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Proficiency in general construction methods, materials and industry standards
  • Strong analytical, mathematical and computer skills required
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Astute leadership, time management, attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, planning, effective multi-tasking, problem-solving, analytical, follow-through and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively alone and within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative team environment
  • Valid CA driver’s license and clean and insurable driving record
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds in weight

Nice To Haves

  • Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), a plus

Responsibilities

  • Estimating & Bidding:
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from plans/blueprints;
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials and equipment;
  • Develop budget proposals and submit bids to clients;
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage project phases from pre-construction to closeout;
  • Create and manage project schedules;
  • Track costs, manage change orders and maintain budget adherence;
  • Coordinate onsite activities, materials and subcontractors;
  • Oversee quality, safety, and compliance with standards.
  • Client & Team Communication:
  • Provide regular project updates and address concerns quickly;
  • Collaborate with designers, field crews, architects and owners.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Generate project reports and internal/external communications;
  • Administer submittal reviews.
