About The Position

The Project Manager - ESS is the primary engine behind the successful execution of energy storage contracts. This role involves taking projects from the sales team through manufacturing, delivery, and site commissioning. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering a high-quality and complex technical asset on time, within budget, and in strict adherence to the commercial terms of the contract. The role requires a focus on following established processes and identifying shortcomings for constant project execution improvement to ensure projects are executed correctly. This will ensure that the customer receives their product as designed while maintaining costs and ensuring that all contractual milestones are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical/mechanical), construction management, business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in project management, specifically within the renewable energy, power generation, or heavy industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Understand the different components of an Energy Storage System.
  • Ability to read technical documentation such as SLD (Single Line Diagram).
  • Ability to dive into a Master Supply Agreement (MSA) and identify exactly where our liability ends and the customer's begins.
  • Experience with Procore, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of BESS projects as the customer's main point of contact and escalation point.
  • Review key contract sections relating to project delivery, schedules, and commissioning activities.
  • Oversee the full project cycle from factory floor to project site, managing complex logistics and ensuring all components arrive ready for deployment.
  • Track project deliverables and ensure that the customer receives all necessary information to execute their project.
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule.
  • Lead the negotiation on change orders, by preparing, issuing, and ensuring that the change order has been executed before the work commences.
  • Maintain the project's margin. Track the Division of Responsibility (DOR) to prevent scope creep and deliver the equipment as contractually agreed to.
  • Track costs against budget and be able to present changes to leadership.
  • Coordinate with field technicians, subcontractors, and the customer's EPC to ensure the system is installed to specification.
  • Lead a project team consisting of a Project Engineer, Commissioning Manager, and Logistics Manager, to ensure that milestones are achieved without any commercial penalties.
  • Communicate delays or issues promptly to the customer. Use creative problem-solving to come up with solutions to mitigate impacts on project.
  • Provide internal reporting and be the internal project champion, notifying leadership about issues and potential delays in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a project risk register covering technical, logistical, and any regulatory or technical changes.
