About The Position

Superior Rigging & Erecting is seeking an experienced Crane & Rigging Project Manager to lead complex lifting, rigging, equipment setting, and specialty construction projects from award through closeout. This is not a general construction project management position. We are looking for a Project Manager who understands crane and rigging operations, can work effectively with field leadership, and can take ownership of the safety, planning, financial performance, scheduling, and customer relationships associated with technically demanding projects. The position is based in Atlanta and reports to the Vice President of Crane & Rigging. Travel to customer locations and project sites throughout the Southeast will be required based on project needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project management experience in crane, rigging, heavy lift, machinery moving, industrial construction, or closely related specialty contracting.
  • Direct crane and rigging experience is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of crane operations, rigging methods, heavy lifts, equipment setting, and field execution.
  • Experience coordinating cranes, rigging equipment, crews, subcontractors, transportation, and jobsite logistics.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, change orders, billing, and project margin.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, lift plans, equipment information, and project documentation.
  • Working knowledge of crane load charts, lift planning principles, rigging practices, and safe lifting operations strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and the ability to partner effectively with Safety and Operations in high-risk work environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customers, field leaders, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to cost, schedule, safety, and customer commitments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with construction project management, estimating, scheduling, or equipment-management systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to project locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related discipline preferred; substantial directly relevant crane and rigging experience may be considered in place of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage crane and rigging projects from turnover and preconstruction planning through execution and closeout.
  • Review project scope, contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate crane selection, rigging requirements, equipment needs, manpower, subcontractors, transportation, and field execution.
  • Work closely with operations, field supervision, engineering, estimating, safety, purchasing, and customers to develop executable project plans.
  • Participate in lift planning and ensure project requirements are communicated clearly to field leadership.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, manpower plans, equipment requirements, and key milestones.
  • Own project financial performance, including budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, change management, billing coordination, and margin performance.
  • Identify scope changes and ensure change orders are documented, priced, communicated, and executed appropriately.
  • Conduct jobsite visits and maintain regular communication with field supervision throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate mobilization, logistics, equipment availability, permits, subcontractors, vendors, and customer requirements.
  • Proactively identify safety, schedule, cost, equipment, or operational risks and work with the appropriate teams to resolve them.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers regarding project status, schedule, changes, and emerging issues.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Support project closeout, including documentation, final billing, outstanding change orders, lessons learned, and customer follow-up.
  • Manage multiple active projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Travel to jobsites as required throughout Georgia, Florida, and other locations within the Southeast.
