About The Position
The Project Manager Cost Out - Procurement systematically identifies, analyzes, and realizes sustainable cost-reduction opportunities across the supply chain. The role contributes to company profitability and competitiveness through market analysis, technical product evaluations, supplier-base optimization, and negotiations. It plans, leads, and monitors cost-out projects; develops project plans, milestones, resource requirements, and savings targets; and manages cross-functional teams spanning Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Finance, and Production. The position also identifies global procurement markets with savings potential, conducts market and benchmark analyses and comparative cost calculations, and applies international Best-Cost-Country sourcing strategies. Technical work includes reviewing product specifications, manufacturing technologies, and material costs; preparing Should-Cost analyses and total cost of ownership models; and identifying technical optimization and Design-to-Cost opportunities with Engineering. The role is based in a flexible office environment and follows a standard Monday-through-Friday schedule under the Rolls-Royce America Inc. Flexible Work Policy. The posting lists Novi, Michigan or Aiken, South Carolina as working locations and separately lists Graniteville, South Carolina. International travel is required. Relocation assistance may be provided if applicable. The position is part of Power Systems, which provides power solutions and life-cycle support under the mtu brand for marine and infrastructure customers worldwide.
Requirements
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship; the employer cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Nice To Haves
- Several years of experience in Procurement, Cost-Out Management, Value Engineering, or technical project management.
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product-related cost structures.
- Excellent analytical skills, including Should-Cost analysis, cost modeling, TCO assessments, and data analysis.
- Experience in international project management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Very good English skills.
- German language skills are a plus.
