About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Project Manager - Construction Material Testing to join their Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Austin, Texas. This role offers a career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek-PSI is a leading US-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection in civil and commercial construction, offering services such as construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

Requirements

  • Significant experience managing large Construction Materials Testing projects.
  • Strong field experience with concrete, reinforcing steel (rebar), soils, and drilled pier projects.
  • Proven experience managing and scheduling 10 or more field technicians.
  • Strong knowledge of CMT procedures, construction practices, project specifications, and field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with project scheduling, staffing, budgeting, invoicing, and financial management.
  • Strong leadership and personnel-management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing project conditions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with clients, technicians, project managers, and senior management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • ACI, NICET, ICC, or other CMT-related certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large and complex CMT projects from project start-up through completion.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day scheduling, assignment, and utilization of 10+ field technicians.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to technicians, project managers, and other project personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, staffing plans, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, testing requirements, and project priorities to maintain efficient operations.
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, quality, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Work closely with branch and operations management to address staffing, scheduling, equipment, and operational needs.
  • Monitor project budgets, labor costs, revenue, invoicing, and overall profitability.
  • Identify potential project issues and implement solutions to minimize delays, additional costs, or disruptions.
  • Review testing reports, documentation, and project deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all testing and inspection activities are performed in accordance with applicable ASTM, ACI, project specifications, company procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with proposals, change orders, client meetings, project start-ups, and business development activities.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and customer service.
