The State Public Works Division (SPWD) is seeking a licensed electrical engineer to lead and manage a diverse portfolio of capital improvement construction projects across Nevada. This position serves within the Department of Administration in Las Vegas and plays a critical role in advancing the State’s infrastructure and built environment. This role manages all phases of project development, including preparing scopes and budgets; negotiating and administering architectural and engineering (A/E) contracts; reviewing and approving plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents; and coordinating bid documents with regulatory and administrative agencies to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. The position oversees bidding activities, directs bid openings, manages construction contracts, and ensures accurate review of change orders, progress payments, and project fiscal records. Throughout each stage of project delivery, the electrical engineer maintains the project’s established scope, budget, and schedule. This position also provides professional electrical design services for in-house projects and peer review of contracted design firms. Success in this role requires strong electrical engineering expertise in power distribution, emergency and standby power, lighting systems, low-voltage building systems, cameras, and access control. The electrical engineer supports SPWD’s mission to provide well planned, efficient, and safe facilities for state agencies and contributes to the Division’s vision of exemplary state facilities through professional judgment, teamwork, and pride in high-quality public service.
