About The Position

WSP is seeking a Power Delivery Associate Project Manager to assist with managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned power delivery project(s). This role involves responsibility for the overall performance of projects, including financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule. The position ensures adherence to project lifecycle responsibilities from proposal phase through closeout, maintaining quality standards that meet or exceed corporate expectations for execution, profitability, quality, safety, and operational purpose. WSP, with expertise in power delivery, generation, and program management, enhanced by the acquisition of POWER Engineers, Inc. and TRC Companies, is partnering with clients to evolve energy systems globally. This specific role focuses on upfront project development and planning, including developing project scopes of work and estimates with functional groups.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, business, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience within the power delivery/utility industry, or other construction project management role.
Understanding of project delivery process within the power delivery industry and defined background and experience in project management.
Competent analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
Capable critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Works independently with minimal oversight and strict adherence to QA/QC.
Well-developed with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
Effective at coordinating resources, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to complete tasks competently and efficiently.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree in Engineering.
Working towards project management certification (e.g., PMP)

Responsibilities

Participate in the development of power delivery project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
Participate in developing the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs.
Update documentation within designated systems and processes, including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan as necessary.
Assist with facilitating project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with Project Accounting to assist with monitoring and tracking project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin for a project or an assigned portfolio of projects.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.
Coordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontractor requirements in a timely manner.
Assist with overseeing subcontractors, and coordinating supplier submissions, invoices, and payments.
Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers.
Complete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.
Develop sufficient financial acumen to understand project financial data.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
