About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Management Professional- Power & Energy in Burnsville, MN. Supports the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects in accordance with WSP’s core values and the level of project services agreed upon in the contract by WSP and the client(s). Assists senior project managers in ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements. Works closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to facilitate efficient project workflows and ensure deliverables are completed in accordance with project objectives. Plays a key role in tracking project progress, maintaining documentation, and communicating updates to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in a project management support role within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, project management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and processes, with a focus on coordination and communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and familiarity with basic project management software.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify project risks and work collaboratively to develop solutions.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

  • Experience supporting federally funded or government infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of contract language and procurement documentation review.
  • Familiarity with WBS (Work Breakdown Structures) and project controls terminology.
  • Project coordination certification or training (e.g., CAPM, APM, or similar).
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools for tracking or reporting purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of project plans, including defining scope, establishing schedules, setting milestones, and identifying resource requirements under the guidance of senior project managers.
  • Coordinates daily project activities by working closely with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and align with project objectives.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking key performance indicators, identifying potential risks or delays, and reporting findings to senior team members.
  • Supports the management of project budgets by assisting in tracking expenses, reviewing cost estimates, and ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Prepares and maintains project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, risk assessments, change orders, and project closeout reports.
  • Facilitates communication among project team members, external stakeholders, and clients by providing timely updates, responding to inquiries, and ensuring alignment on project expectations.
  • Assists in evaluating contractor and vendor performance, ensuring they adhere to project specifications, contractual requirements, and industry quality standards.
  • Supports compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety requirements by ensuring project activities adhere to established standards and best practices.
  • Helps identify and address routine challenges during project execution, escalating complex issues to senior staff when necessary.
  • Assists in preparing presentations, reports, and status updates for project meetings, senior management, and clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
