Project Management Office Lead

Remote

About The Position

The PMO Lead will establish and lead PLACE's newly created Project Management Office, designing the systems, tools and reporting cycles, annual, quarterly and project-level, that give PLACE real-time oversight of its whole program of work. This is a founding role. Rather than inheriting a fixed methodology, you'll assess how PLACE's project processes currently work, alongside a team who knows the work inside out before proposing what should change. You'll help create the conditions for a more consistent, better-supported way of delivering projects across a distributed, remote-first team.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in project management or PMO functions, ideally within a remote or distributed team.
  • Strong diagnostic skills, you assess before you prescribe.
  • Collaborative, comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across a distributed team.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and manage competing priorities with a proactive, adaptable approach.
  • Can simplify complexity and make insights accessible to people who aren't project management specialists.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to PLACE's vision, values and principles, particularly around community leadership and shared decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • A project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Lead back-office project operations: tracking, reporting, and resourcing across PLACE's project portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain registers for project risks, issues, dependencies and decisions, and embed a consistent approach to escalating and resolving them.
  • Work closely with PLACE's Evaluation and Learning Lead to ensure project processes and reporting align with PLACE's Theory of Change and broader evaluation and learning approach.
  • Build strong working relationships across PLACE's distributed, remote-first team.
  • Establish and implement systems to monitor project delivery, ensuring activities are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Help establish an external panel of specialists and experts who can be engaged for contracted project work as needed.
  • Adapt the PMO function as PLACE's structure continues to settle following the recent restructure.

Benefits

  • True flexibility and a strong focus on agility in the workplace; we prioritise making flexible work arrangements possible for all employees.
  • A team of supportive and passionate people committed to maintaining a positive workplace culture and making an impact.
  • 5 weeks of Annual Leave for every 12 months of employment.
  • Two days volunteering leave for every 12 months of employment.
  • A leadership team that truly wants you to flourish and make your mark on the organisation.
  • A workplace that prioritises both diversity and inclusion, allowing everyone to bring their authentic selves to work in an environment that ensures psychological and physical safety.
  • Remote-first working arrangements (the opportunity to work where you live).
  • Cultural and Ceremonial leave.
  • A Learning and Development budget per employee, prioritising professional development for our employees.
