About The Position

The Production Project Leader will independently lead continuous process improvement initiatives to improve production safety, quality, capacity, reliability, cost per 1000 dosages, customer service and regulatory compliance. Represents Production on teams and forums where Production process and technical knowledge is required. Acting as a leading member of a team, the Project Leader works with others to improve quality, productivity and timeliness of the projects being managed with the end goal being reduction or eliminate of non-value-added activities or costs.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, Sciences and project management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work within a team environment (as part of a team) as demonstrated through previous work experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Proven strong organizational, time management, and project management skills. Demonstrated experience in coordinating project activities
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • 3-5 years demonstrated leadership experience particularly in the areas of achieving outcomes through others, developing and maintaining positive working relationships, clarifying expectations and seeking understanding, and taking ownership and accountability for own performance

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Production Technicians and the Production Technical team in analyzing production processes and equipment to make continuous improvements focusing on Safety, Quality and Productivity.
  • Manage resources (including Coop students) to complete projects on schedule and create contingency plans to ensure minimal production impact.
  • Liaise regularly with Production Operations, Engineering, Quality Assurance and SHE group to coordinate project activities, to provide technical advice, leadership and updates on project status, to implement initiatives in meeting business needs.
  • Lead investigations for deviations in the Solid Dose areas relating to equipment, process and product failures. Recognize critical path for investigations leading to timely identification of root cause, corrective and preventative actions. Recommend solutions for improvements in production processes, reliability and compliance to Production Operations, Engineering and Quality Assurance. Review all investigation reports for completeness and accuracy prior to approval by Decision Making Committee.
  • In cooperation with the other Apotex project leadership team members, ensure that all systems are in place to ensure due diligence in design and construction procurement/execution and project cost and schedule controls.
  • Generate maintenance and operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.
  • Act as a Coach for one or more Production technician team, providing strong leadership by motivating team members and fostering an environment of personal development, involvement and participation.
  • Act as a specialized manufacturing resource (Subject matter Expert) to management in the resolution of complex issues.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in full compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), SOPs and in accordance with established Safety Standards
  • Coordinate the installation and commissioning or production equipment including completing equipment installation and operational qualifications (IQ/OQs) for new and existing equipment as required
  • Identify and coordinate technical production training requirements for equipment
  • Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.
