About The Position

This role involves investigating sites to identify physical or environmental risks. The Project Industrial Hygienist will perform field studies including airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality assessments, asbestos surveys, and Phase I preliminary site assessments. Responsibilities include developing sampling strategies, outlining required analyses, researching regulatory standards and hazard data, evaluating sampling results, preparing risk assessment reports, and developing recommendations for environmental correction and improvement. The position also requires presenting and communicating findings and recommendations to clients. This is a career-level, fully competent industrial hygiene professional role responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating detailed phases of work for parts of major projects or entire projects of moderate scope and complexity. The individual may devise new approaches to problems and serve as a team leader for medium projects, mentoring junior industrial hygienists, scientists, or engineers. They will perform scientific analyses within their discipline, attend client meetings (on and off-site), and implement technical requirements by directing field staff in sampling, testing, data collection, and site documentation. The role includes developing written proposals for clients and performing quality control reviews of proposals written by others. Evaluating complex laboratory and field data and assembling it into written reports is also a key function. The position operates under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer, and the individual will begin the documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related science field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience.
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of work for part of a major project or total of a project of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Serve as a team leader in medium projects and mentor junior level industrial hygienists, scientists or engineers.
  • Perform scientific analyses on projects of own discipline.
  • Attend on and off-site client meetings.

  • Develop written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
