About The Position

As a Project Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in managing some of the most exciting and technically challenging transportation projects in the Western United States! Our geotechnical team works on a variety of transportation, energy, development, and natural resources projects. We are looking to grow our already strong team with the addition of another Geotechnical Engineering Project Manager. As part of our geotechnical team, your responsibilities will include for performing complex engineering analyses and preparing technical reports, overseeing field explorations and construction observation, conducting technical briefings with field staff. As a project manager, you will be responsible for completing project management tasks including budgeting, client communications, coordinating internal meetings, mentoring and overseeing the work of junior engineers and field technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience is required.
  • At least two years of project management experience.
  • PE license required.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • All candidates are subject to completing a background check, and reference check.
  • All candidates are required to participate in our medical surveillance program.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and view of a monitor/screen.
  • Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed.
  • All employees are responsible for conducting their work in a safe manner. This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them to the designated project manager in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning fieldwork.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or coordinate the development and implementation of field exploration programs in accordance with AASHTO and local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Complete engineering analyses and calculations.
  • Lead the generation of technical reports including completion of routine reports, figures, tables, etc.; Assist senior staff in completing portions of large, complex reports, figures, tables, etc.
  • Lead project management tasks such as attending project meetings, budget and schedule planning, staffing and task assignments, deliverable preparation, and proposal development.
