About The Position

The Project Financial Lead manages Finance, Accounting, and Cost departments and serves as a liaison with Turner local profit center projects. The role is accountable for profit center financial reporting and financial risk management, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position leads and develops the finance team, advises the profit center executive team, and provides financial leadership for business activities and new opportunities. It supports business strategy, planning, forecasting, reporting, cash management, profit enhancement, billing, collections, and financial compliance. The role is based in Haskell, Texas, and is classified as experienced, regular, and salaried exempt.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited degree program and at least 10 years of related experience in project or construction finance supporting field operations.
If the bachelor’s degree is not in Finance, Accounting, or a related finance field, complete or commit to pursue within one year an approved accounting certificate or an advanced business degree, such as an MBA or finance-related master’s degree.
Comprehensive knowledge of the accounting implications of various contract terms.
Strong analytical ability to review, assess, and interpret large quantities of disparate financial data, audit, and prepare forecasts with a focus on risk management.
Experience with financial oversight, monitoring, and strategic financial planning.
Ability to keep abreast of current financial industry trends and updates.
Ability to prioritize many simultaneous, complex, and competing demands, activities, requests, and short-cycle deadlines for self and team.
Proficiency with computers, financial system applications such as SAP, and Microsoft Office applications, including advanced MS Excel skills.
Management experience, including ability to observe performance, identify development areas, and provide effective performance feedback.
Executive-level presence and professional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work across functional lines and all organizational levels.
Collaborative approach, balanced business judgment, and ability to challenge senior management with candid, honest assessments.

Responsibilities

Create a supportive environment for developing a high-performing finance team, including professional development, coaching, and mentoring.
Lead Finance and related team members, provide timely performance feedback, and contribute to annual performance appraisals using talent management systems.
Develop and deliver training on department processes.
Provide financial and business decision leadership for core business activities and development of new business opportunities.
Partner with the profit center executive team as an advisor, counselor, and valued partner; collaborate with the general manager on business strategy and key decisions.
Participate in monthly Executive VP strategy and operating meetings.
Collaborate with leadership on the annual profit plan and forecasting reports.
Develop, analyze, and present periodic profit center financial statements and reports.
Improve systems, processes, and procedures that support the profit center, its leaders, and Finance.
Lead cash management and profit enhancement initiatives.
Ensure required bonding and insurance are obtained and maintained.
Assist the Tax department with local municipality tax issues.
Oversee billing issuance, collection, and overdue receivables.
Manage financial compliance with external requirements, including GAAP, IAS, FARS, ERISA, and IRS requirements, as well as internal company policies.
Drive financial risk management and support the development and implementation of policies and procedures; communicate standards clearly to internal constituents.
Promote Turner through involvement in outside organizations.
Perform other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
