About The Position

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Pepper Construction provides clients the experience and resources of a national company, combined with the hands-on approach of a local company. As a Project Executive, you are accountable for the overall safety, strategic direction, successful execution, and financial performance of construction projects from initial budgeting through final closeout. You provide leadership to project management and field supervision teams, establishing clear priorities, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality results. Your success depends on building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, project teams, and support departments, both internally and externally. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive construction project management experience.
  • Proven success managing large, complex construction projects exceeding $50 million.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, risk management, contract negotiation, and project financial oversight.
  • Demonstrated business development and client-facing experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and project controls.
  • Thorough understanding of construction operations, contracts, safety practices, and project delivery methods

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional client satisfaction by understanding and exceeding client expectations.
  • Lead project estimating, value engineering, budgeting, and financial planning efforts.
  • Provide executive oversight for construction projects exceeding $50 million.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure accurate forecasting and successful outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, clients, design partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in business development activities, including client presentations, project interviews, and pursuit strategies.
  • Negotiate and secure new business opportunities.
  • Champion Pepper's safety culture and ensure safety remains the top priority on every project.
  • Mentor, develop, and coach project management staff to build high-performing teams.
  • Provide leadership in resolving complex project, contractual, and operational challenges.
  • Lead subcontractor and material procurement, buyout strategies, and contract negotiations.
  • Direct project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Promote the use of Pepper's Integrated Services and Self Perform Group capabilities.
  • Oversee project execution, including subcontractor coordination, quality control, documentation, safety compliance, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor project financial performance through forecasting, cost management, and profitability analysis.
  • Lead project startup, progress, and closeout activities to ensure successful delivery.
