About The Position

The ideal candidate to fill this position is a Fire Protection Engineer that is proficient and confident in their abilities as an FPE, especially with experience in industrial, mission critical, federal, and other commercial project types. This role would operate in a blend of client management/support and technical project management for certain projects, work with an internal MEP/FP team to deliver projects that meet the objectives of the clients. Business Development and early project development support is expected to account for much of the day-to-day functions of this role, so understanding how to strategically navigate complex problems with clients and keep them satisfied while creating opportunities for repeat work. Additional focus areas of this role will be client mission support and technical project management on high profile projects, there may be activities to support other managers in developing an action plan to solicit and secure new work, implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for the Nashville office, identifying prospective markets and clients, etc.

Requirements

  • Excellent client management and business acumen skills
  • Proficient in application of all applicable NFPA, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs) and Building (IBC, SBC, etc.) codes/standards
  • Proficient in implementing high resiliency designs for mission critical infrastructure projects
  • Familiar with Revit and its workflow capabilities when delegating and managing technical staff on projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential for team-based projects
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills required for overlapping project schedules
  • 7+ Years Experience in Design/Consulting/Construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or fire protection engineering or similar ABET Accredited program
  • Registered Professional Engineering (FPE) license required
  • Willing to Travel (<20%)

  • Ability to effectively communicate with owners, contractors, and other design professional partners
  • Ability to work well independently as part of a strong team
  • Technical mentorship with junior design staff and having a general understanding of workflows associated with key project deliverables.
  • Assist other Fire Protection Engineering staff in quality control of FPE work products
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Takes responsibility and technical leadership role based on experience.
