About The Position

VarcoMac is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Estimator to join our growing electrical construction team. This role is ideal for a construction professional who excels in both preconstruction and project execution, with a proven track record managing complex electrical systems and delivering high-quality projects from estimate through closeout. Reporting to the Electrical Division Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, documenting, evaluating, communicating, and administering project changes throughout the project lifecycle. Ensures all scope, schedule, cost, and contractual changes are properly managed, approved, tracked, and incorporated into project execution plans. Experience supporting healthcare construction projects is strongly preferred, as this role will support a diverse portfolio of commercial and healthcare clients. Requirements

  • Experience managing electrical construction projects, including estimating and preconstruction responsibilities.
  • Associate's degree in a technical field, Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and electrical design documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Experience using estimating software and cost estimating tools.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate estimates for commercial and healthcare electrical construction projects.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Analyze plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Develop bid proposals and support project pursuits and presentations.
  • Maintain organized estimating files, cost databases, and historical project information.
  • Participate in estimate reviews and project handoff meetings.
  • Utilize estimating software, spreadsheets, and other digital tools to prepare cost analyses and forecasts.
  • Manage Change Control Process: Administer the project change management program, ensuring all proposed changes are documented, reviewed, approved, and implemented in accordance with company procedures.
  • Evaluate Change Impacts: Analyze the effects of proposed changes on project scope, schedule, budget, labor resources, procurement activities, and contractual obligations.
  • Develop Change Documentation: Prepare and maintain change requests, change orders, requests for information (RFIs), change logs, cost analyses, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Reviews: Facilitate reviews with project management, engineering, accounting, procurement, operations, and client stakeholders to obtain feedback and approvals.
  • Track Change Status: Maintain an accurate change log and provide regular reporting on pending, approved, rejected, and implemented changes.
  • Support Cost Recovery and Claims: Assist project teams in identifying entitlement, preparing cost justifications, documenting impacts, and supporting change order negotiations and claims resolution.
  • Monitor Contract Compliance: Ensure change management activities comply with contract requirements, notice provisions, approval authorities, and company governance standards.
  • Communicate Change Impacts: Communicate approved changes to project teams and stakeholders, ensuring schedule updates, budget revisions, and scope modifications are clearly understood.
  • Maintain Project Controls Integration: Coordinate with project controls teams to incorporate approved changes into schedules, forecasts, earned value tracking, budgets, and progress reporting.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify trends, process gaps, and recurring issues within the change management process and recommend improvements to increase project efficiency and financial performance.
