About The Position

This internship program at MCN Build for the summer of 2025 offers a comprehensive overview of the construction phases and various contract types. Interns will gain hands-on experience from bidding to buyout, learning to interpret construction plans and specifications, manage subcontractor relationships, and understand owner RFPs. The role involves using Planswift for quantity take-offs, writing scopes, and becoming familiar with tally sheets and basis of estimate.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Organized, with great attention to detail.
• Experience with Excel and MS Office Programs.
• Strong and proactive communication (written, phone, and in person).
• Ability to work well with colleagues, subcontractors, vendors, architects, designers, and the community.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gain a general overview of the different phases in construction.
• Understand different types of contracts between entities (owner, architect, general contractor, etc.).
• Learn to read construction plans and specifications.
• Manage subcontractor relationships.
• Learn about owner RFPs and their requirements.
• Use Planswift for quantity take-offs for inhouse budgets.
• Learn how to write scopes.
• Become familiar with tally sheets and basis of estimate.
