About The Position

As a Project Environmental Assessor, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) while contributing to a broader range of environmental projects. You’ll collaborate closely with Project Managers and senior staff across regions, bringing both technical rigor and thoughtful analysis to every project. This full-time, exempt, hybrid role may be based in one of our primary Washington, Oregon, or California locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Ideally 3–5 years of Phase I ESA experience, including report writing
  • Environmental Professional (EP) designation preferred (or ability to qualify within 18 months)
  • Strong understanding of ASTM E1527, E2247, and USEPA All Appropriate Inquiries (AAI) requirements
  • Working knowledge of California environmental regulations and transactional due diligence processes
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to work collaboratively across teams and with clients
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with a range of property types (e.g., industrial, commercial, gas stations, dry cleaners, manufacturing facilities) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead Due Diligence Delivery
  • Support the Due Diligence team on ongoing project needs
  • Prepare Phase I ESA reports with minimal oversight
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, tracking scope, budgets, timelines, and deliverables
  • Prepare Phase I ESA proposals and support development of scopes and cost estimates for Phase II ESAs
  • Deliver timely, high-quality work products with proactive solutions and recommendations
  • Drive Technical Excellence
  • Professionally represent Farallon to clients, agencies, and project partners
  • Obtain, review, and evaluate historical and regulatory records
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to document site conditions
  • Interview regulatory officials, site representatives, and other knowledgeable parties
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental and site data
  • Evaluate findings against applicable regulations, ASTM standards, and AAI requirements
  • Prepare clear and concise technical report content, including narratives, tables, photologs, figures, and appendices
