The Project Engineering Manager will own the technical backbone of Zanskar’s geothermal plant design template, from establishing the design basis and company-wide technical specifications to capturing lessons learned so future plants can be built more efficiently. The role ensures that engineering scope and design for the power plant, substation, and gen-tie are clear and understood by the EPC contractor and Project Delivery team. The manager will establish the engineering and design management plan, including deliverable schedules and review processes; arrange constructability, operability/maintainability, design model, and HAZOP reviews; and ensure review actions are closed before projects pass stage gates. They will oversee management of change so technical and scope changes are evaluated, approved, documented, and assessed for cost and schedule impact. Serving as Project Delivery’s technical representative, the manager will represent engineering at stage gates and with the independent engineer, coordinate interfaces with the interconnection group, and approve technical submittals and procurement packages with the procurement team. The role also involves building strong working relationships with engineers and contractors carrying designs through construction and commissioning, managing outside engineering and EPC teams, and developing and mentoring engineers. The position is based on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah, with periodic travel to project locations, the EPC contractor’s office, and key equipment suppliers.
