About The Position

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer Intern/Co-Op to join our Ashland LLC (ISP Technologies) business at our Calvert City, Kentucky location. This position will report to the Project Engineering Lead. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Follow all plant safety policies ensure and enhance a safe working environment. Work with Project Engineering, Chemical Process Engineers, and Construction/Maintenance to support/manage the implementation of various site projects and improvement activities. This will include all facets of the project phases – scoping, design support, construction, and all project documentation. Work with Plant Integrity, Reliability & Maintenance staff to implement small projects. In more than 100 countries, the people of Ashland LLC. Requirements

  • Currently be enrolled in college working to obtain a ME or ChE degree from an accredited university.
  • Completed three (3) years of coursework toward bachelor’s degree.
  • Current GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Self-starter with passion for learning and be willing to work in a plant environment.
  • Able to interface well with all levels of employees involved in project engineering work, including process operators, contractors, maintenance technicians, process/manufacturing engineers, operations managers, maintenance manager, and members of plant leadership team.
  • Capable of responding appropriately during site emergencies as directed by the site emergency manager.
  • Able to evacuate manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
  • Able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment when required to work or visit within manufacturing process area. Will include fire retardant clothing, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as required by work performed and location where work is performed.
  • Physical abilities include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 lbs. or reaching depending on work activity required.
  • Work will be performed in an office and plant environment with frequent trips to operating units to assess equipment or processes, perform inspections and/or collect data.
  • May be required to operate company vehicle on company business.
  • Confined space entry may be required.
  • Possess ability to 1) identify critical issues then formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate, 2) develop and foster positive work environment at all levels, and 3) resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills.
  • Capable of identifying improvement opportunities then formulate action plans for implementation, requiring exceptional work planning and problem-solving skills.
