About The Position

The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in all phases of construction project delivery, including planning, design, procurement, construction, close‑out, and warranty. Assignments may be office‑based, field‑based, or a combination of both. On smaller or less complex projects, the Project Engineer may serve as the primary project manager, coordinating design and construction activities, monitoring schedules and budgets, and tracking overall project progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field; or an Associate’s degree with additional construction experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Solid organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, file‑sharing platforms, virtual collaboration tools, and general business software.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel overnight as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under company policies.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction sites, including adequate vision, mobility, and hearing.
  • Ability to pass background checks required by certain clients (e.g., school project sites).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with estimating activities, including attending budget charrettes, preparing quantity take‑offs, and supporting cost development.
  • Support the bidding process by preparing bid documents, soliciting subcontractors, distributing plans, and assembling bid tabs and qualification summaries.
  • Review and process submittals, track outstanding items, and coordinate with subcontractors to maintain timely submissions.
  • Collaborate with the jobsite superintendent to review drawings, schedules, budgets, and project logistics.
  • Assist with project accounting tasks, including change order administration and budget updates.
  • Support project progress activities such as subcontractor and supplier communication, permitting, and meeting participation.
  • Prepare and distribute project progress reports to owners as requested.
  • Assist with negotiating, drafting, and processing subcontracts and change orders.
  • Support project close‑out activities, including inspections, punch list creation, and collection of close‑out documentation.
  • Assist in monitoring and implementing site safety and security protocols; help conduct and document weekly safety inspections and meetings.
  • Maintain project documentation, including daily logs, progress photos, as‑built drawings, and jobsite files.
  • Assist with distribution and maintenance of current construction documents (drawings, addenda, bulletins, specifications).
  • Support development and communication of overall project schedules and three‑week look‑ahead schedules.
  • Assist with subcontractor coordination, including meetings, activity scheduling, material staging, and labor issue resolution.
  • Support shop drawing and submittal review processes, maintain submittal logs, and verify material delivery dates.
  • Assist with quality control activities, including layout coordination, materials testing, and inspection of work for compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Help document and communicate project changes, including pricing requests, extra work authorizations, and construction bulletins.
