About The Position

The basic function of the Project Engineer is to provide technical engineering information to the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent technical training and related experience.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • A working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications.
  • Knowledge of building material and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • The ability to perform mathematical calculation either manually or with calculator.
  • The ability to assume responsibility and communicate effectively with others.
  • Must be able to work under stressful deadline situations.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to comprehend business math and interpret data from various sources.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 3 years experience in construction.
  • Advanced computer skills are desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical engineering information to the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints/drawings for installing materials.
  • Research and resolve blueprint/drawings interpretation problems and errors.
  • Prepare field design change requisitions and “as built” drawings.
  • Prepare all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists, sketches of work already done, material requirement calculations, etc.
  • Present blueprint/drawing discrepancies to Project Manager and Superintendent for resolution.
  • Prepare documents such as Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested by the Project Manager.
  • Supervise and administer field layout and surveying activities.
  • Review and issue valid drawings and other engineering documents to field staff.
  • Ensure all primary, secondary and layout control data comply with engineering standards and are submitted to drafting for on-site detailing.
  • Issue, edit and maintain all field engineering books, records, etc., according to project procedures.
  • Ensure all concrete inspections, sign-offs, etc., are complete and comply with procedures.
  • Maintain control of all surveying equipment; Ensure proper care, calibration, documentation, etc., is maintained.
