About The Position

The Project Engineer (PE) shall support the Project Manager (PM), and Superintendent (Supt) as required for them to meet their goals through all phases of a project. This role involves managing key project processes, providing essential support to project leadership, and contributing to the overall success of construction projects.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a drug test
• 4-year degree in a construction related major
• Motivated for a long-term career in construction
• 1+ years of project engineering experience
• Strong negotiation and leadership skills
• Understand accounting, financial statements, job cost, and cash flow

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience in healthcare construction
• Preferred experience in fast-paced construction managing multiple projects concurrently
• A focus on following processes and procedures
• Taking ownership of the role
• Not being afraid of difficult conversations and relaying bad news when required

Responsibilities

• Managing the submittal process
• Managing the RFI process
• Managing the change order proposal process
• Providing research, backup support, legwork, data entry etc. as requested by the PM and Supt
• Completing budget revisions and modifications in Viewpoint as required throughout the job
• Maintaining a high level of safety in alignment with Abbott's core values
• Combining knowledge of engineering methods, construction methods and human management skills
• Providing support for planning, scheduling and coordinating projects to meet deadlines
• Offering support to the estimating department by soliciting subcontractors for projects as well as managing and distributing plans
• Acting as the main point of contact for subcontractors as requested by the Project Manager
• Acting as a Project Manager when a Project Manager is unavailable
