Project Engineer

K&K Technical•Liberty, NC

About The Position

The Project Engineer leads the procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment. The role creates and maintains detailed schedules and budgetary controls for assigned areas, and develops battery manufacturing process plans and machine specifications using Toyota Production System principles, Toyota and industry standards, and continuous improvement practices. The position applies electrical, mechanical, and civil design knowledge and relevant standards to develop engineering criteria and design feedback. This includes decisions about system sizing, routing, materials and component selection, installation, and related design choices. The Project Engineer prepares explanatory documents and drawings so stakeholders—including machine vendors, general contractors, service providers, owner groups, and management—can understand scope, execution plans, progress, key issues, and options. The role collaborates across functional, company, and international boundaries to advance project goals. It plans and monitors equipment installation, identifies field issues, and works with construction coordinators and machine builders on countermeasures. It contributes to a zero-incidents safety culture by following Toyota construction safety requirements, modeling safe behaviors, and correcting unsafe conditions. It also demonstrates quality-first leadership by planning and coordinating pre-production and mass-production trials at machine vendors and installation sites.
