Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or similar
Expertise/familiarity with industrial power distribution and protection, UPS systems, switchgear, emergency generators, life safety, PLCs, building automation, ladder logic, motor controls, low voltage systems including fire signaling, access control, surveillance, and utility infrastructure systems.
Familiarity and experience with commissioning above systems, startup, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, UL, IBC, Chicago Electric Code, NEMA, and electrical industry codes and standards.
Ability to create project budgets/estimates.
Experience with construction management, electrical construction standards and practices, and coordination of trades.
Drafting experience with AUTOCAD and MicroStation.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to prioritize work and stay organized to meet project schedules and internal customer requests
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to review, interpret and effectively comment on drawings as required to accurately communicate desired construction to contractors.

Responsibilities

Prepare calculations associated with building electrical systems and power infrastructure, low voltage controls, lighting, life safety.
Perform field survey work necessary to validate layouts/plans prior to, during, and after construction.
Perform field survey work necessary to accurately transcribe existing building plans into CAD based drawings.
Prepare drawings and engineering/construction documents.
Prepare electrical system drawings, single lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical physicals (arrangement, assembly, detail, fabrication), specifications, functional descriptions, sequence of operations.
Prepare cost estimates, schedules, specifications, review/comment/approve drawings and submittents, installation supervision.
Assist fellow team members within the Facilities department with design, troubleshooting, and electrical expertise.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required
Communicate effectively and respectfully with others
Drive a car or other vehicle
Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules
Coordinate work of contractors
