About The Position

Kwame Building Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join our Infrastructure Construction team. The successful candidate will support the planning, coordination, and execution of infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, utilities, site development, water and wastewater systems, and other public works projects. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and government agencies to deliver high-quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, with a focus on infrastructure or heavy civil construction.
  • Experience supporting projects such as transportation, utilities, bridges, water/wastewater, site development, or other public infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, project scheduling, cost control, and contract administration.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on municipal, state, or federal infrastructure projects.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification.
  • Familiarity with DOT standards, public contracting requirements, and civil construction practices.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of infrastructure construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and engineering drawings.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with clients, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, utility providers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and production to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Track project costs, quantities, and material deliveries.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor construction progress, quality, safety, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Support project meetings by preparing agendas, documenting meeting minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Assist with project closeout, including punch lists, as-built drawings, warranties, and final documentation.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and quality while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
