About The Position

Windings, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned company seeking a Project Engineer passionate about improving manufacturing processes. This role involves enhancing process capabilities, ensuring smooth product transitions to production, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive quality, efficiency, and innovation. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex problems, optimizing workflows, and making a measurable impact. This position can be based in Eden Prairie, MN or New Ulm, MN, with potential travel to New Ulm if based in Eden Prairie. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical science from an accredited university or college.
  • General understanding and working knowledge of common engineering concepts & applications including statistical and scientific tools (e.g., Gage R&R, DOE, process capability, SPC, etc.).
  • Ability to identify technical problems and execute solutions relevant to project responsibility using a systematic problem-solving process.
  • Basic understanding of electric motor theory and principles, including typical mechanical and electrical inspection methods.
  • Ability to create technical presentations and recommendations for internal and external customers.
  • Apply basic project/process management tools (i.e., Gantt chart, RACI matrices) to ensure performance against project deliverables.
  • Ability to develop effective work relationships with suppliers and customers of project/process input and output.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, or person granted refugee or asylee status (or equivalent) in the U.S., or undergo additional steps for ITAR/EAR compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of capable processes and ensures efficient and effective transfer of product into production.
  • Initiates and conducts defined technical tasks within a manufacturing environment.
  • Assesses process capabilities and innovates and implements process improvements for discrete, well-defined processes.
  • Analyzes, understands, and applies technical and quality requirements of well-defined products to create proper documentation to meet contract requirements.
  • Writes clean and concise work instructions understandable by manufacturing operators.
  • Assists in disposition and review of non-conforming rejects to identify and implement actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Contributes to technical reports, validations, and qualifications by capturing experimental results.
  • Writes validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes.
  • Gathers and provides technical data for technical reviews.
  • Oversees development builds associated with the project.
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of key production processes and materials.
  • Assists in the designing of fixtures and tooling to facilitate product development.
  • Creates dimensional characterization methodology and inspection criteria.
  • Investigates root cause and implements corrective action for quality or cost concerns.
  • Identifies and implements a comprehensive education plan to continually advance technical skills and personal development, as well as enhancing organizational effectiveness.
