About The Position

The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, or with successful attainment of objectives. This role involves completing specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing. The Project Engineer will coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems, while controlling expenditures within the project budget. They will also prepare interim and completion project reports, provide functional and technical support to factories to minimize production and maintenance problems, and apply engineering expertise to equipment design, problem-solving, and quality improvement. Participation in committees or task forces may be required to contribute to company goals, and support for key projects as a technical advisor or project manager is expected. The role emphasizes the use of Kraft Heinz Management System (KHMS) principles, including establishing requirements, process maps, and ensuring quality through first-time right execution. Promoting KHMS through actions and communications, ensuring conformance to requirements, providing quality products and services, and offering technical solutions/leadership for cost of quality reduction are key aspects. The role also involves the development of project scope, justification, and factory/company impact, as well as appropriation preparation including cost estimates, savings, and timing plans. Development and management of cost controls, asset controls, and scheduling controls are also part of the responsibilities. The Project Engineer supervises various contractors in the scope of project management and maintains adequate project documentation. They evaluate, plan, and implement approved projects under the direction of the Engineering, Project Review Committee, and/or Management Board. This includes actively participating in company efforts to reduce operational costs and improve finished quality attributes, developing projects to utilize cost-cutting/quality-improving techniques or equipment. Analyzing and preparing appropriation requests for capital improvement and replacements of inefficient assets, collecting and organizing data for future capital improvements on a five-year capital spending budget basis, and maintaining an active cost reduction program are also critical. The incumbent must possess high-level human relations skills for effective interaction with individuals from diverse work disciplines and cultural backgrounds. They will direct and compile capital budgeting, collect future capital project requirements from factory departments, and compile them into a final five-year capital budget. Control of the current fiscal year budget to meet factory needs and position them for the future is also required. Analysis and preparation of appropriation requests, including financial analysis of all capital and expense appropriation requests for new facilities, equipment for operating improvements, capacity increases, and equipment replacement, are essential functions of this role.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school or related field is required
• Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in engineering and or leadership
• Ability to Direct/Lead/Manage cross functional teams
• Understanding of financial and manufacturing Key Performance Indicators
• Strong background in mechanical and hydraulic systems, packaging methods, materials, electronics and computer applications, and electrical systems.
• Basic PLC programming knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication skills are required for presentations to factory staff on technical issues or specific project activity.
• Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to work to flexible schedule including days, afternoons, midnights, overtime and travel as needed.

• Analyze and prepare appropriation requests; prepares and financially analyzes all capital and expense appropriation requests.
• Prepare and financially analyze new facilities and equipment for factory operating improvements, capacity increases and replacement of equipment.
