About The Position

This position combines developing novel ideas with proven methods to design and develop the next generation of vacuum and heat exchanger equipment for submarines and surface ships. This position requires end-to-end engineering and development from concept to manufacture. This position requires extensive customer interaction, technical writing, mathematical, and analysis skills.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
3+ years of experience
Strong technical writing skills
Strong mathematical skills
3D CAD modeling
Capable of working individually or on a team
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain government security clearance
Must be willing to work overtime as required
Proficiency in MS Office applications including spreadsheet, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized application software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to successfully plan and implement objectives within established timelines and work schedules.
Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions at both strategic and functional levels.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company, customer, and vendor/supplier matters.
Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
Proficient in engineering application software such as Autodesk Inventor; ability to learn analytical software such as ANSYS.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Strong reasoning ability required to allow assessment of a broad range of customer requirements.
Ability to successfully plan, self-direct, and implement objectives within established timelines and work schedules.
Proficient in math required for first-level engineering calculations.
Sound engineering judgment required to support customer-consulting tasks.
Customer relationship skills to establish technical scope, requirements, and technical corrective actions.

Responsibilities

Coordinates engineering activities required to develop new vacuum and heat exchanger equipment from concept through manufacture.
Works collaboratively with internal teams, customers, vendors/suppliers, and other stakeholders to establish technical scope and requirements.
Supports cross-functional coordination to ensure engineering objectives and project requirements are effectively communicated and executed.
Maintains a collaborative relationship with internal and external stakeholders throughout the engineering and development process.
Successfully plans and implements engineering objectives within established timelines and work schedules.
Develops and maintains technical documentation, reports, procedures, specifications, and work instructions as required.
Provides timely and accurate technical communication regarding engineering activities, project requirements, and results.
Maintains a high degree of accountability for meeting commitments and completing assigned work on time.
Notifies appropriate personnel when established timelines cannot be met and communicates alternate plans as necessary.
Develops novel engineering solutions by combining innovative ideas with proven engineering methods.
Defines problems, collects and analyzes data, establishes facts, and develops effective engineering solutions.
Applies engineering judgment and mathematical analysis to support design and development activities.

Applies applicable technical specifications, standards, procedures, and engineering requirements to assigned projects.
Supports technical corrective actions and works with customers and other stakeholders to establish and address technical requirements.
