About The Position

Herzog Contracting Corp. is seeking a Project Engineer in Kearny, New Jersey, for the Sawtooth project assignment. The role supports the Project Manager and field operations, helping manage project documentation, materials, procurement, subcontract administration, and construction-related permits. The position primarily works in an office environment and requires regular attendance, punctuality, and engagement with Herzog’s culture and safety practices.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with a team.
Strong organizational skills.
Highly motivated.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and any endorsements required for the position.
Successfully complete and maintain required safety certification and testing annually.
Pass the applicable pre-employment background check, motor vehicle report review, physical, medical evaluation, drug screen, and color/vision examinations.

Nice To Haves

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience in a construction-related position.
Experience with Procore.

Responsibilities

Assist the Project Manager and provide support for the field.
Understand HCC’s contractual obligations to the client and the client’s obligations to HCC.
Review and log shop drawings and assist field engineers with submittals and requests for information (RFIs).
Code materials, labor, and equipment.
Coordinate procurement and timely delivery of materials to the project.
Process material submittals and requests for information.
Assist with subcontract administration.
Acquire and assist with closing construction-related permits.
Regularly engage in, participate in, and promote Herzog’s culture and essential behaviors.
Maintain regular, predictable attendance and punctuality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Report safety violations to the immediate supervisor.
