About The Position

Cooper Steel is seeking a process-focused Project Engineer with 0-3 years of experience in construction or project management and a bachelor’s degree, preferably in construction management or engineering. The ideal candidate is resilient, confident, and composed when navigating difficult discussions, maintaining strong working relationships under pressure. They are a detail-oriented self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, timeliness, and commitment to delivering high-quality results. This role is based in our Nashville office on Music Row, with occasional travel and events. Cooper Steel is a national leader in steel fabrication, erection, project management, detailing, and estimating, family-owned and operated since 1960.

Requirements

• 0-3 years of experience in construction or project management
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in construction management or engineering
• Resilient, confident, and composed when navigating difficult discussions
• Ability to maintain strong working relationships under pressure
• Detail-oriented self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and timeliness
• Commitment to delivering high-quality results

Responsibilities

• Review project documents to understand scope, sequencing, technical requirements, and identify constructability issues or conflicts
• Manage RFIs and submittals throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring timely coordination, tracking, and resolution
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to support project execution
• Support procurement, material release, delivery planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost management activities
