About The Position

A candidate for a Project Engineering position at JFW will require a self-motivated individual to accept the challenges and demands of a fast-paced ever-changing environment. This consists of bid build construction and design-build construction on both public and private work. The candidate will possess the qualities to meet or exceed the client’s expectations, develop the client relationship, and lead the engineering field team to a successful project. This is not an entry level position. Candidates should have 4-7 years of Construction Management experience. Job requirements dictate this position is in-person, typically on site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 4-7 years Working in Construction Environment (Dependent on Project Size and Scope)
  • Ability to understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience in Cost Tracking and Cost Control, Production Reporting, Submittal, RFI’s
  • Skilled in Verbal and Written Communication
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as required by the job circumstances

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CAD, BIM, HeavyJob, HeavyBid, Procore preferred

Responsibilities

  • Project Startup: Regular Meetings with Project Manager/Superintendent, Clients and Construction Manager, Bid Review for Construction Assumptions, Control Estimate Setup Support, Preparation of List of Deliverables from Specifications, Early Submittmits (Schedule, Quality Control, Safety, other General Conditions), Review contract Permit requirements and need for Contractor obtained permits, Develop a Working Knowledge of Plans and Specifications, Set up Document Control Process (Hard Copies, Electronic), PO and Subcontractor Scoping
  • Project Duration: Client Meetings and Relationships, Run Weekly Staff Job Meetings, Quantity Tracking, Time Sheet Approval and Cost Coding, Schedule Maintenance – Quantity Tracking, Meetings, and Review of Submittal, Cost Control (Weekly Reports, Monthly Reports, Change Order Maintenance, Forecasting), Production Reports (on Specific Key Construction Tasks), which Become Part of the Final Engineering Report (see Project Closeout), Document Control, Process Invoices and Subcontractor Requisitions, Requisitions to Client, Manage Office Engineers, Survey and Office Manager, Support Project Manager and Superintendent, Develop, Oversee, and Manage Submittits, RFI’s, and Written Correspondence, Develop Extra Work Costs/Maintain Issue Log, Forward Price Change Orders, Prepare Safety Work Plans and Conduct weekly On-Site Safety Inspections, Crane Lift Planning, Mentorship of Junior Staff
  • Design-Build Considerations: Outline/Schedule of Deliverables, Tracking of Deliverables, Design-Constructability Reviews, Manage Release of Design Packages for Construction
  • Project Closeout: Punch List Tracking and Resolution, Site Supervision/Closeout, Testing Management, Archives, Final Comprehensive Engineering Report, Final Payment Documentation
