We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team in Rockford, Michigan. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in a customer-facing environment, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and can independently lead programs from concept through production. As a Project Engineer, you will serve as a trusted customer partner, technical leader, and key driver of project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven success managing customer-facing engineering projects and programs
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience working directly with customers to understand requirements and develop solutions
  • Proficiency with CAD software, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel locally, nationally and internationally. (limited travel)

Responsibilities

  • Lead highly complex customer programs and engineering projects from concept through production
  • Serve as the primary engineering contact for strategic customer accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships through responsiveness, technical expertise, and proactive communication
  • Lead technical discussions, project reviews, and customer meetings
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions that balance customer requirements, manufacturability, quality, and cost
  • Drive project timelines, priorities, risk management, and cross-functional coordination
  • Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Sales teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions to keep programs on track
  • Support new product launches, product enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen customer relationships and support future business growth
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers
