About The Position

Garver is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Transportation Team in Wichita, Kansas. The role supports the design and preparation of construction documents for a variety of transportation and railroad projects, including roadway and track roadbed components. Work includes design tasks such as geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, safety features, and traffic control plans, as well as drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates. The position may also involve marketing activities related to project procurement. Garver provides mentoring intended to support employees’ professional development.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI).
1–4 years of related experience.
Previous experience in transportation and/or civil engineering design.
Strong communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in consulting engineering with a primary focus on transportation projects.
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and InRoads/OpenRoads.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
Familiarity with AASHTO highway and traffic publications.

Responsibilities

Assist with the design of transportation and railroad projects.
Create construction documents for roadway and track roadbed design components, including typical sections, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, safety features, and traffic control plans.
Contribute to construction document production through drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates.
Participate in marketing aspects of project procurement.
