About The Position

Leopardo Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to join their Healthcare Market. This role is designed for individuals eager to learn and advance their careers in a dynamic setting, offering exposure to various aspects of the construction industry. As a key member of the project management team, the Project Engineer will support Estimating, Project Management, and Field Operations Departments by planning, directing, and coordinating project activities to ensure objectives are met. This position provides comprehensive training, including rotational learning plans, to foster a deep understanding of company policies, procedures, philosophies, and the overall construction process, paving the way for potential progression to roles such as Estimator, Project Manager, or Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in construction, engineering, or architecture-related fields; or equivalent training and related experience.
  • Understanding of basic construction technologies, including scheduling software, financial comprehension, and digital model navigation.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints is a must.
  • Awareness of project management and accounting software.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior industry experience as a Project Engineer or Intern is preferred.
  • Field and/or estimating experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Viewpoint software is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 Hour certification is a plus.
  • LEED GA accreditation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project management staff in monitoring and achieving goals related to overhead, profit, general conditions, self-performed trades, client satisfaction, and profit projections/job cost maintenance.
  • Monitor a detailed master construction schedule using Asta, tracking critical dates and providing updates.
  • Obtain necessary permits, insurance, and bonds.
  • Review and process submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs, following up with architects/subcontractors for approvals.
  • Establish and maintain logs according to company or owner specifications.
  • Coordinate and participate in various project meetings (e.g., OAC, MEP Coordination, Pre-installation) and prepare meeting minutes, outlining discussions, status, responsibilities, and completion dates.
  • Coordinate MBE/WBE compliance monitoring, updates, and reporting.
  • Negotiate with and procure subcontractors and suppliers, generating subcontracts/purchase orders, and reviewing monthly payment applications.
  • Ensure inclusion of BIM, LEED, and Design/Build subcontract language where necessary.
  • Track the status of subcontracts, insurance, and bonds.
  • Generate and maintain project documentation for BIM, including conducting model mediation/clash detection.
  • Review LEED construction deliverables for relevant projects.
  • Determine subcontractor work completed to date and generate monthly billings/sworn statements to the owner.
  • Verify, price, and prepare change order documentation, maintaining a change order log for weekly status reviews.
  • Compile project completion closeout documentation, including as-built drawings, warranty letters, and O&M manuals.
  • Ensure correct setup and maintenance of filing and archiving systems.
  • Assist estimating staff in developing bid strategies, formulating accurate budgets, and reviewing bid documents for quantity take-offs using On Screen.
  • Develop RFIs as required and conduct jobsite walkthroughs to verify field conditions.
  • Develop a list of qualified subcontract bidders using invitation to bid software and communicate with bidders to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Receive and analyze subcontractor bids using bid day forms.
  • Prepare owner budget proposals after exploring cost-saving alternatives and value engineering.
  • Participate in client presentations and preconstruction job turnover processes.
  • Assist field operations staff in procuring materials and assembling/distributing two-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Maintain daily logs documenting job activities and participate in subcontractor meetings for coordination.
  • Initiate and monitor project safety plans and EH&S initiatives, conducting daily jobsite walks and assisting with audits, inspections, and daily logs.
  • Initiate and monitor job-specific QC plans and initiatives.
  • Review plans and specifications, and maintain on-site construction documents by logging drawings, sketches, and bulletins.
  • Post and process ASI's, bulletins, CCDs, etc.
  • Participate in coordination and pre-installation meetings, ensuring timely final inspections and tests.
  • Generate field documentation to assist the LEED Project Coordinator with final submissions.
  • Manage self-perform trades and monitor budgeted versus actual costs for self-performed work.
  • Generate punch lists, determine responsible subcontractors, and follow up for timely completion.
  • Monitor and record project hiring requirements, maintaining daily and monthly records along with payroll certifications.
  • Interact with clients, owner's representatives, or end-users on-site as required by the project.
