Project Engineer - Systems

Mirion•Meriden, CT
•$115,000 - $150,000

About The Position

Under general supervision, the Project Engineer performs varied engineering tasks using established techniques and procedures. Assignments may involve planning and executing complete projects or portions of larger projects under the direction of more experienced staff. The role provides technical support for planning, designing, analyzing, constructing, and maintaining structures, electrical systems, and/or components, and provides engineering advice to design and drafting staff. Work may focus on electrical or mechanical engineering depending on departmental and project needs. General project engineering duties include monitoring material purchases and labor expenditures and comparing them with planned project metrics. The position requires strong PLC (Emerson Machine Edition) and electrical controls experience, including the ability to design and lead custom electromechanical projects. The Project Engineer organizes project activities to meet schedules and budgets, applies knowledge of advanced automation controls and communications protocols, and may access DOE sites for installations and issue resolution after passing required security checks. The role performs routine and non-routine engineering work across design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, specification preparation, field tasks, and field-problem resolution. It may lead small projects and ensures engineering work complies with applicable government, organizational, and customer standards. The position also involves assessing project costs, solving engineering problems using standard procedures, applying established technical methods with judgment for minor adaptations, and receiving assistance on unusual or complex matters as needed. Additional work includes creating or modifying user and equipment manuals and applying basic knowledge of Genie 2000 and NDA2000 software and gamma and neutron measurement techniques.
