About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to provide engineering calculations and various design services under the direction of various Project Managers. This role involves preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects of varying complexity. The engineer will be responsible for various roadway design elements using local and AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignments, plan and profile, utility design and relocation, streetscape and roadway improvements, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and signing, striping, and signalization. The position requires preparing plan documents and supporting design calculations, using AutoCAD Civil3D for detailed construction drawings, and implementing quality assurance procedures. The Project Engineer will oversee technical aspects of projects, coordinate with other disciplines and utility service providers, identify applicable codes and standards, and prepare technical specifications and cost estimates. Field reviews and assessments for design purposes are also part of the role, as is participation in contract bidding and limited construction observation. The engineer will represent clients and the firm in meetings with governmental agencies, develop and track milestones for on-time and on-budget delivery, and design storm drain, sewer, and water systems using pipe networks. Additionally, the role includes designing onsite grading and draining, particularly for parks and sports fields, designing traffic signals, and performing traffic signal inventory. Construction administrative tasks such as site observation, meeting preparation, RFI and change order coordination, and preparing NDOT encroachment permit plans are also required. The engineer will determine sight visibility zones and analyze traffic data using Synchro, SIDRA, or Vistro to optimize intersection capacity and analyze roundabouts.
