Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to a quickly changing business environment.
  • Ability to write, analyze, and interpret technical information, including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Mechanical CAD, version 2018 or later.
  • Knowledge of applicable AASHTO and AISC codes and standards.
  • Practical knowledge of engineering formulas and their application to the design of structural steel members and connections.
  • Understanding of standard drafting terminology, abbreviations, symbols, dimensioning techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to design steel components in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Design experience involving structural systems for bridges, steel buildings, or industrial construction.
  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD or Inventor.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or professional engineering licensure in one or more states.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete and accurate engineering calculations for steel bridge structures and components.
  • Apply construction and engineering principles, mathematics, material properties, and other physical sciences to develop calculation packages in U.S. customary units, metric units, or a combination of both.
  • Prepare bills of material based on completed drawings.
  • Review engineering work products for completeness, technical accuracy, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Develop project-specific written instructions and drafting procedures.
  • Comply with Acrow policies, safety requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Travel to other Acrow locations or customer sites as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
