About The Position

The Project Engineer organizes, plans, coordinates and monitors assigned engineering projects by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to the project and bids from contractors. Manage and support major capital investment projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and with expected return on investment. Oversee plant electrical infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switchgear, distribution systems, and emergency generators, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Ensure reliable backup power for all critical plant circuits. Manage facility and maintenance projects across the mill, resolving operational issues and achieving defined project objectives. Track and analyze electricity and natural gas usage and costs, ensuring compliance with utility contracts and supporting accurate accounting. Conduct predictive maintenance on oil-filled transformers to maximize equipment life. Maintain compliance with FCC requirements for all licensed radio frequency devices, including plant radios and radio-controlled cranes. Manage and maintain all technical documentation, manuals, and electrical prints, ensuring accessibility for plant personnel. Provide daily technical support and troubleshooting assistance to plant personnel. Lead electrical scope and support for assigned and cross-functional capital projects using internal resources and contractors. Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree.
  • 5-10 years project management experience preferred.
  • 5-10 years mill-related experience preferred.
  • Training in project management.
  • 2-5 years special training on high voltage equipment.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in AutoCAD, MS EXCEL, MS Project.
  • Capable of working independently in a self-directed environment
  • Travel 10 % of the time to visit potential suppliers, acceptance tests and benchmarking other facilities.
