About The Position

ReNuke Services/Oak Ridge Technologies is seeking a Project Engineer for the Calcine Disposition Project (CDP) at the DOE Idaho Site. This role will support the planning, resource organization, and execution of project scope for the CDP. The Project Engineer will apply management and engineering principles to the design, modification, and operation of a test and processing facility. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing project plans, managing budgets, coordinating with teams, identifying and managing risks, monitoring progress, communicating with stakeholders, and overseeing troubleshooting and problem-solving. The individual will be responsible for developing project-specific documentation, including schedules, cost estimates, project management and engineering documentation, and compliance strategies, adhering to DOE directives and ICP company standards. The role requires routine field work at the DOE Idaho Site and interaction with management, support organizations, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience in scientific and engineering principles associated with technology development, DOE facility design and construction, and/or facility closure.
  • Experience working at a DOE facility and familiarity with DOE orders and requirements, specifically DOE O 413.3B and DOE-STD-1189-2016, DOE-STD-1073, and DOE-STD-1104-2016.
  • Experience interfacing with multiple support organizations (internal and external) as well as with DOE and various stakeholders (Idaho DEQ, U.S. EPA, Tribal Nation, and the public).
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle simultaneous duties and priorities with limited direction and supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively to short deadlines with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively with individual contributors and management.
  • Strong communication skills, specifically with writing technical and project documentation.
  • Must be familiar with, and comply with, all relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Must be knowledgeable of emergency action policies and procedures, methods for reporting/resolving unsafe work practices or conditions to available cognizant professionals.
  • Knows and complies with environmental, safety, health, and pollution prevention regulations, policies, and procedures for this position.
  • Ensures own safety and safety of coworkers.
  • Reports unsafe work conditions to immediate manager.
  • Ensures that the five core functions of the Integrated Safety Management System are understood and applied when performing job duties.
  • Ensures that operational excellence is achieved through appropriate implementation of conduct of operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review project plans and proposals and collaborate with management to determine project objectives.
  • Identify project priorities by determining the phases and elements of the project. Calculate time frames and sequence the stages of the project.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including materials, labor, and other associated costs.
  • Coordinate with different teams and professionals, such as contractors, business support services, and engineers to ensure all parties are aligned with the project objectives.
  • Identify project risks, including analyzing and managing technical risks.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure it is staying on schedule and within budget. Make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
  • Communicate project progress to ICP and DOE management and stakeholders as required or requested through reports and presentations.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting and problem-solving process that will address project needs and issues that may impact project success.
  • Responsible for organizing and archiving project documentation, including keeping detailed project notes and records.
  • Develop project-specific documentation (such as schedules, cost estimates, project management and engineering documentation, and compliance strategies).
  • Develop project documentation as required by DOE directives and ICP company standards and procedures.
  • Be directly involved with the project work activities and require routine field work at the DOE Idaho Site and interactions with management, support organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate services between the CDP and ICP support organizations.
  • Develop project specific plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with document preparation and reviews.
  • Direct and monitor execution of project scope.
  • Communicate project progress to ICP and DOE management and Stakeholders.
  • Provide project specific safety and compliance leadership.
