Project Engineer
About The Position
The Project Engineer supports post-sale execution of customer projects and maintains system layouts that apply appropriate engineering theory, enabling a seamless transition from proposal through production and installation. The role also supports the front-end sales process by helping the Sales Engineering team prepare accurate technical quotes and layouts that meet customer requirements and company product line standards. At Sentry Equipment, a subsidiary of ProMach’s Systems business, the position contributes to projects involving conveyor equipment and container-handling machinery, including the integration of packaging equipment and conveying systems.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 1 year of experience in technical sales, design engineering, or applications engineering.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, automation, or industrial equipment design principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software, ERP/CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent technical communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in conveyor systems, packaging, or machinery manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Manage engineering activities throughout project execution, including developing and maintaining project layouts and ensuring engineering requirements are complete and accurate.
- Partner with Sales Engineering to review project scope, specifications, layouts, and special engineering requirements.
- Coordinate and verify engineering details for third-party and OEM equipment and incorporate requirements into overall project designs.
- Support quotation and pre-sale activities, including technical quotations, layouts, RFQs, and mechanical/electrical installation bid documentation.
- Participate in project handoff and Sales Release Meetings to document and communicate critical engineering details, applications, and requirements.
- Travel periodically to customer sites for project evaluations, meetings, startups, and customer support.
