Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or closely related field of physical science.
  • Technical competence to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with customers.
  • Skills in diplomacy conducive to working with clients through technically challenging compliance issues.
  • Capability of working both individually and within a team.
  • Good research, documentation, record keeping and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply new test methods and procedures for assigned projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Passing of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) designation.
  • Knowledge of construction material characteristics and applications, manufacturing techniques, supply sources and engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of the U. S. Building Codes and applicable fire standards, building design and construction, and modern construction materials and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of code compliance evaluations and supporting clients through product development, testing, and certification.
  • Manages assigned projects from product sampling and witness manufacturing through creating final certification documentation within client budgeted timelines.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge and understanding of building codes and related product standards through research and review, including witnessing laboratory testing.
  • Assumes responsibility for project tasks and establishes client commitments with follow-through.
  • Reviews and thoroughly understands contract requirements and documents any deviations.
  • Communicates directly with clients on task status, required information, and completion dates.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the testing laboratory to ensure smooth client transitions.
  • Conducts off-site, in-person audits at manufacturing facilities, leading the audit, communicating requirements, and documenting all phases of production and quality control.
  • Develops detailed audit reports and factory audit manuals.
  • Develops test plans and evaluation plans based upon research findings.
  • Performs other work as required.
